The New Bern Historical Society is thrilled to announce the return of famed musician Livingston Taylor for their annual fundraising concert at the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center on April 12. This dynamic and personable performer’s career includes performance, songwriting, and teaching. He has many top-40 hits: “I Will Be in Love with You”, “I’ll Come Running”, “I Can Dream of You” and “Boatman”, the last two recorded by his brother James. He has shared with stage with major artists such as Joni Mitchell, Linda Ronstadt, Fleetwood Mac, Jimmy Buffet and Jethro Tull. As a professor at Berklee College of Music, he has mentored hot new talents including Gavin DeGraw, John Mayer, and Charlie Puth.

Livingston Taylor is the fourth child in a very musical family that includes brother James Taylor, sister Kate and brother Hugh. Described as “equal parts Mark Twain, college professor and musical icon – an icon who is a large part of America’s first music family,” Taylor was born in Boston and raised in North Carolina. New Bern is glad to welcome him back to his North Carolina heritage and the home of his ancestor who built the Isaac Taylor House downtown on Craven Street.

Livingston Taylor has been described as “an airplane-flying, motorbike-riding, singing-guitar/piano-man, dead set on enriching the world he inhabits.” New Bern Historical Society’s Executive Director Mickey Miller looks forward to his show. “Liv Taylor has a special spark and an uncanny connection to his audiences. Folks have been asking us to bring him back and we are so glad to be able to do just that.”

Opening for Livingston Taylor is the New Bern, North Carolina based team, Lewis n Clark. This dynamic duo met in 2014 as Artists in Residence at The Greenbrier Resort and Casino in White Sulphur Springs, WV. Not ignoring the fact that their names had a certain historical ring, the two talents joined forces and began performing as Lewis n Clark, an exploration through vintage music. Their travels have taken them around the U.S. and abroad to perform before shows such as Lionel Richie, Jimmy Buffett, & Maroon Five. A Country/Jazz fusion, Von and Abby’s classic duet-style is reminiscent of hit duos like Fred & Ginger, Sonny & Cher, and Faith & Tim. Married in 2016, the vivacious and romantic energy of Lewis n Clark’s chemistry and talent is undeniable
